Without a doubt, the decision to return to the office is weighing on our minds. Employees and employers are faced with a daunting decision on whether or not to return to office and the safety protocols that should be in place to protect the workforce.

We have invited Lorrie Ray and Laura Woods with the Employers Council (formally the Mountain States Employers Council) to present to our membership about employer and employee issues regarding COVID -19.

Speaker Biographies:

Lorrie Ray, Esq., SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Lorrie's experience in the variety of problems typically facing employers includes resolution of civil rights cases before state and federal administrative agencies, federal wage and hour disputes and state law claims, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge and health and safety laws.  She is also a frequent lecturer on employment law matters.

Previous to working at Employers Council, Lorrie worked at the U.S. Department of Labor Office of the Solicitor for a little over three years, prosecuting wage and hour cases for the Department. Lorrie earned her Bachelor's in Finance from the University of Colorado and her law degree from University of Denver.

Laura Woods, MAOM, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CPP

Laura has a B.A. in English Literature and a Master’s in Organizational Management.

Laura started at Employers Council as a consultant in the Human Resource Services Department in 2007 and moved into the Information Manager role in 2019. Laura’s background includes creating and managing corporate training, recruiting, and human resources departments.  She has also managed payroll departments for multi-state companies.  Her HR, training, recruiting, and payroll experience includes banking, retail, sales, distribution, and service organizations in Colorado, California, Arizona, and New Mexico, among others.

Laura is a member of SHRM and the American Payroll Association.
