Speaker Biographies:
Rob MaCoy, CPA
Partner, BKD
Rob leads the audit practice in the firm’s Colorado/Salt Lake practice unit, serving as the office accounting and auditing (A&A) director. He provides quality control guidance, oversees assurance engagements and monitors the continuing education program of the audit professionals. Rob provides advice and counsel to the office managing partner on staffing assignments and other risk management issues. He serves as the signing partner and concurring reviewer on a wide variety of client engagements and participates in peer reviews and internal quality control inspections.
He started his career in BKD’s Kansas City office, joining the assurance staff after graduating from college. He has nearly 30 years of experience in assurance, including managing some of the office’s largest and most complex engagements. Rob moved to Colorado and was appointed as office A&A director in 1999 after working in the National Office A&A department.
Rob is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Colorado Society of CPAs (COCPA). He serves on the advisory board for the accounting program at Colorado State University and has previously served on a similar board for the University of Northern Colorado. He has been active in a variety of other community and professional organizations, including a two-year term as audit committee chair for COCPA.
He is a 1990 graduate of Missouri State University, Springfield, with a B.S. degree in accounting.
Ben Chappell, CPA
Senior Manager, BKD
Ben joined BKD in 2012. As a member of BKD National Health Care Group and BKD National Private Equity group, he provides assurance and consulting services for a variety of health care clients, including rural hospitals, urban hospitals, surgery centers, physician groups, private equity backed portfolio companies and more. He consults with clients on a wide variety of issues, including debt financing arrangements, entity purchases and consolidations, internal control structures and new accounting pronouncements.
He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Colorado Society of CPAs and Healthcare Financial Management Association. He serves on the board of directors for Colorado Rehab Services Volunteer Partnership Clinic.
Ben is a 2010 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, with a B.S. degree in business with a concentration in accounting and operations management.
